The Clinical Triage specialist Team is an elite group of specialists who are on the frontlines handling all incoming calls after hours.  A Clinical Triage specialist does far more than just answer incoming calls. Check out the full list below of all the ways our Clinical Triage specialist Team will make what we do every day possible:


  • Each Clinical Triage specialist will work three shifts per week with alternating weekends. Below are the hours:

    • Monday - Saturday, Night Shifts: 6:00 PM - 8:00 AM

    • Sunday Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM 

    • Sunday Night Shift: 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM

  • Answer all incoming calls from patients after hours and on holidays

  • Assist with triaging patient clinical issues and connecting patients with an on-call nurse

  • Return all voicemails within five minutes

  • Complete meaningful work in patient charts

  • Achieve a weekly utilization goal of 79%, with a minimum acceptable weekly utilization of 75%, unless inbound call volume prohibits this

  • Review and complete Urgent To Do's such as:

    • Setting up appointment requests

    • Find additional patient resources

    • Resolve patient account urgents

    • Assist the Nurse Team and Pharmacy Technicians in obtaining additional information needed to handle Nurse Urgents and medication refills, obtain fax numbers for record requests and send record requests




  • The clinician must have demonstrated competence escalating appropriate calls to a nurse, and follow all protocols for escalation

  • The clinician has demonstrated excellence in following established clinical protocols and procedures

  • The clinician must be able to work the Clinical Triage specialist shift schedule

  • The clinician must be flexible in shift scheduling to allow for working holidays and extra shifts as needed to cover vacation, unexpected employee absences etc.

  • The clinician must be comfortable working alone during their shift

  • The clinician's  quality scores must be demonstrative of meeting expectations

  • The clinician must have proven themself to be dependable and capable of working on their own

  • The clinician must be flexible and able to switch tasks effectively

  • The clinician has demonstrated specialistership and the initiative to obtain additional skill sets at ChartSpan

  • The clinician needs to have an eagerness to help their fellow co-workers and team to succeed

  • The clinician must have a current license as a CNA, CMA, RMA, LPN, or Health Coach



  • Each Clinical Triage specialist will receive an additional $3.00 per hour when working Monday - Friday, and an additional $5.00 per hour when Saturday - Sunday.
